Instructions
1.
Brush knotting over any resinous areas or knots in the
wood so they are sealed and cannot seep through.
2. Apply an ever coat of primer to the bare wood and
leave it to dry.
3. Wrap a piece of fine grade abrasive paper around
a block of wood, and rub lightly over primed areas to
remove any rough bits.
4. Remember to sand moulded areas as well. Use abrasive
paper round a tin piece of wood, or a flexible sander.
5. Put one undercoat on light surfaces and two on dark
ones. Use an undercoat that matches the colour of the
paint.
6. When the undercoat is dry gently rub over it with
abrasive paper.
7. Remove any tiny bits of dust with a dusting brush.
8. Wipe the surface with a damp lint free cloth (a clean
old handkerchief is ideal) or a tacky rag – to
pick up any more dust.
9. Apply the topcoat with a brush that is a suitable
size for the surface. Gloss paint tends to be the best
choice for wood because it is more durable and easier
to clean that emulsion.
